Artist Inspiration

Gordon Parks

A photographer and film maker.

He began photographing in Minnesota, but then moved to Chicago. There he began to document the south side ghetto. These photographs won him a fellowship with a FSA where he worked until it disbanded. After that he worked for Vogue and then Life Magazine (he was the first African American to work for them). He led a truly extraordinary career and is extremely diverse. In addition to photography he also wrote poems and played music.

Maybe his most famous photograph.
