A little bit of everything...

It's been ages. I know. So just a few little updates about life right now.

I'm currently 35 weeks 5 days pregnant. We are almost at the 30 day mark. THAT'S INSANE.

We got new baby chicks that are just the cutest little things ever.

We are re-doing the bathroom at the farmhouse before bambino gets here because we found out the tub was leaking.

>This means we have no bathroom at our house. Therefore we are living at David's parents (it is conveniently about 80-100 yards from our house.

I'm taking this time pre-baby, and away from house chores to prep my etsy, like i've always wanted. I'm sewing bunches and bunches of great things, my little fingers are working to the bone. So once I'm done sewing things I'll be photographing them and updating my shop. I'll be posting the newly streamlined line after the bambino is here. I'll be closing my shop for the month of July while I have a baby and work on this goal.

In the meantime I'll keep sharing bits of what I'm working on here, but that's probably it for a while. I'm taking time for myself and bambino.

Here's a photo of some of my skyline hoops. I have Seattle, Paris, St. Louis, Chicago, NYC, and San Francisco. They will be available in your choice of colors both fabric, and thread.

And here is a view of the four poster prints I will have in the shop.  They are 3ft x 3ft engineering prints of polaroids I took on a road trip out west a few years ago. The Motel sign is from Iowa, Public Market is Pike's Place Market, The bridge is the Golden Gate Bridge, and the dirt road is in the middle of nowhere Montana. I love them and we have one hanging in our house currently. :)

Here is one of the polaroids, this one is the Golden Gate Bridge.

Baby Books we LOVE

A short list of books about Babies/ being Pregnant that I've enjoyed reading or found super helpful and sometimes both!

This book is written by Pamela Druckerman about her experience being pregnant, giving birth, and raising her daughter in Paris. At the beginning I liked all the talk about behind calm during pregnancy, because along with her I feel like the motto for American Moms is "worry, fret, worry some more". After her daughter is born chapters follow logically, breastfeeding, getting your baby to sleep, and daycare. The thing I like most about this book is she always includes what current research says about what she's learning from French culture. To me it seems like the French got raising kids right. I want mine to be independent, good eaters, who are thoughtful and enjoy other kids.

The next book is a classic. It gives you a week by week run down of what's happening inside of you to your baby. It's very informational, but can easily make you paranoid if you're the kind of person who already worries alot. So I like this book, but I keep it around for reference mostly and try not to fret about everything.

A more scientific approach to pregnancy than "What to Expect", but has a lot of information. I am mostly using this book for the chapters on birth, because again it's more scientific/medical than the last book.

I haven't read this book yet, waiting till the last two months once I stop working to read this, but have heard great things. It's an approach in the middle of forced schedule and attachment parenting. Once I'm done I'll definitely let you know what I think about it, and then how it works once our baby is here.

This book is for once she starts eating food, I want to start early with feeding her a variety of healthy foods. I didn't eat well when I was young, so I had to teach myself how and I would like to do this for our kids so eating well comes naturally. If the back cover is any indication of this book I'm going to love it.  It has a list of 10 food rules:

1. Parents are in charge of food education
2. Avoid emotional eating - No food rewards, bribes, etc.
3. Parents schedule meals & menus.
4. Eat family meals together.
5. Eat your veggies.
6. You don't have to like it, but you have to taste it.
7. No snacking. It's ok to feel hungry between meals.
8. Slow food is happy food. Eat Slow!
9. Eat mostly REAL food.
10. Remember eating is joyful.

Do you have any other suggestions for me? I'm into natural birth, and a natural parenting.

Pregnancy Must Haves

My pregnancy must haves. Anyone else crave the same things?

1. Pretzels. Which is so weird, because I'm not a salty snacker, but this baby is making me crave salty things.

2. Five Guys. Cheeseburgers, oh sweet juicy cheeseburgers. I think this craving is because I don't eat much red meat, so my body craves the protein in it. The past vegetarian in me can not believe that I want this.

3. Strawberries. I love strawberries, and can not get enough of them. Thank goodness they are coming back in season (in Florida, so in my grocery) but I can't wait for them to be in season here. Mmmm.

4. Thin Mints. I love love love Girl Scout cookies. And I keep my thin mints in the freezer so they are nice and cold when I eat them.

5. Burt's Bees Mama Bee Belly Butter. I seriously love this stuff. It's so thick and creamy. If I forget to put it on my skin gets all itchy while it's stretching.

6. Boppy Total Body Pillow. This thing is a life saver. I'm not kidding. If you are pregnant and think it's not worth the money, trust me it really is.

7. Horizon Organic Milk Boxes. I don't really like milk, I know some people love it, but it's not my thing. I can however drink the chocolate and strawberry of these, because I need the calcium.

8. Prenatal One. I like these vitamins because they are made from real food, and you only have to take one. They do upset my stomach if I haven't eaten and try and take one in the morning.

Anyone have some more suggestions?
