lately

well hello blog it's been a while.

Being a mom is the best thing in the world. I just laid June down for a nap and am taking a moment to write here.

This space will be transforming for a while. I considered starting a new blog, but I think I'm just going to let this space evolve as I do. I'm working my etsy alot right now. Well not so much my etsy as craft shows. I have two this month, which is great. But it's also exhausting, and overwhelming. I'll be at the Bloomington Handmade show this Saturday so come by :)

I'm getting back into photography more which is great because I've missed picking up my camera. June is my inspiration for all the pictures as well as fall at the farm.

here are a few photos of June when she turned 4 months old.

If you're looking for a photographer in the West Lafayette/Indy area let me know.

#BlogeverydayinMay Day 7

Day 7, Tuesday: The thing(s) you're most afraid of

Most of my fears are usually about loosing people, and few things. People is obvious, David, all of our families, and those few friends who are family.

But things is a bit different. I'm scared of loosing all my photos. Digital or printed, all of em. I have lost some in the past, and it was kind of heart breaking. I love my photos, they feel like an extension of who I am, and I don't want to loose any of them. Here are just a few of my favorites.

two old videos

I was looking through some old videos and can't believe that I've never shared these before.

A video from the roadtrip Jess and I took 4 years ago. I don't know how but at the same time it seems like a lifetime ago and yesterday.

A video I made for my senior photography class.

inspiration

Ed Ruscha - Photography

His photography works as a collection. It helps you look at the similarities and differences between things in suburban life that are the same. Gas Stations, houses with white fences. His photography began as the suburbs and highways were things American's were seeing for the first time. He wanted them to look at what they saw with a critical eye.

Photography

So I have a photography degree, and would love to share my work with more people. I just never knew how. I'm not into color prints, because I use color film and an 8x10 from film just doesn't seem appealing (I would want it to be much larger). The other type of work I do is meant for the gallery setting, prints made onto fabric using cyanotype. Not easily re-producable. But then about a year ago I started seeing photography sold as engineering prints. (The amazingly talented Debbie Carlos)

I thought this is a medium I could get behind. So I've been thinking and thinking about what to print this way. And finally it came to me. Polaroids. Square prints turned black and white, that I have a thousand of. The first set of prints will be from my Roadtrip three years ago. They are still some of my favorite Polaroids I have ever taken.

So look for these over the next few months. I really couldn't me more excited. I'll share test prints and my struggles along the way of course.

My bow tote bag was recently featured on the blog Ben Loves Ting. Seriously they are so cute. They post photos of their adventures and lots of food. (my favorite!)

If you want your own just click on the photo of the bag to be taken to my etsy store.

artist inspiration

William Eggleston

The photographer responsible for brining color photography into the fine art world. He was a documentarian of ordinary life. He was born in Memphis and loves to capture the south with a sharp eye for color and juxtaposition.

I saw a collection of his work at the Frist last year in Nashville. It was amazing to see so many of his prints in one place.

I also distinctly remember watching a documentary about him in photo class. There is one scene when they are walking in an alley and he stops to take a photograph of a dumpster.

He is by far one of my favorite photographers and would of been to hard to select a few photographs, so I picked a lot.
