Juniper Rose's first Christmas was great. David and I got her just a few small wooden toys that she can drool all over because our 6 month old is teething.

ETSY is back in business

Well I'm back.

People aren't lying when they call the babies first three months the 4th trimester. We love our little Junebug more than we ever knew we could. I'll share her birth story and photos of her in the coming weeks. Plus I'll be back to my usual posting of movies and things shortly.

For now I wanted to let you know about my etsy shop.

I'll be adding things back to it over the next few weeks starting with my posters!!!

These are 3ftx3ft poster prints of polaroids. I took them on my road-trip out west a few years ago, ok like five years ago (where does time go?). I love them. They would be perfect in a living room, bedroom, or dorm room.

I hope you like them as much as me!

A little bit of everything...

It's been ages. I know. So just a few little updates about life right now.

I'm currently 35 weeks 5 days pregnant. We are almost at the 30 day mark. THAT'S INSANE.

We got new baby chicks that are just the cutest little things ever.

We are re-doing the bathroom at the farmhouse before bambino gets here because we found out the tub was leaking.

>This means we have no bathroom at our house. Therefore we are living at David's parents (it is conveniently about 80-100 yards from our house.

I'm taking this time pre-baby, and away from house chores to prep my etsy, like i've always wanted. I'm sewing bunches and bunches of great things, my little fingers are working to the bone. So once I'm done sewing things I'll be photographing them and updating my shop. I'll be posting the newly streamlined line after the bambino is here. I'll be closing my shop for the month of July while I have a baby and work on this goal.

In the meantime I'll keep sharing bits of what I'm working on here, but that's probably it for a while. I'm taking time for myself and bambino.

Here's a photo of some of my skyline hoops. I have Seattle, Paris, St. Louis, Chicago, NYC, and San Francisco. They will be available in your choice of colors both fabric, and thread.

And here is a view of the four poster prints I will have in the shop.  They are 3ft x 3ft engineering prints of polaroids I took on a road trip out west a few years ago. The Motel sign is from Iowa, Public Market is Pike's Place Market, The bridge is the Golden Gate Bridge, and the dirt road is in the middle of nowhere Montana. I love them and we have one hanging in our house currently. :)

Here is one of the polaroids, this one is the Golden Gate Bridge.

where i've been

So last week I had my 28 week check-up you know the one where they do blood tests and also test you for gestational diabetes. Well i failed the first glucose test that they give you at the dr. office, so on friday i had to take the 3 hour Glucose Intolerance Test. I did everything right didn't eat or drink 8 hours prior to the test, stayed at the hospital the whole 3 hours, I even didn't eat added sugar the whole
4 days in between both tests. Everyone said, oh you'll be fine, no one gets gestational diabetes. But low and behold I am part of that 2-5% of pregnant women who get it. Awesome. Based on my family history I new I would be at risk for getting diabetes some day, but I always thought that was something I wouldn't have to worry about until I was in my 30s or 40s. Well it's here now and I will forevermore have to keep track of my sugar intake and count carbs.

This is not good news for this sweets addict. I love ice cream, I grew up eating it all the time, I mean my parents owned 4 Dairy Queens. In high school I bet I ate 4+ blizzards a day.

So i've been pretty bummed. Those first few days I wanted punch people because I wanted sugar so bad. But I'm getting better and miraculously after only a week I can feel my tastes changing.

So as I begin this sugarless life I'll share recipes and things I learn along the way.

Thanks for still coming here while I was gone. I'll be back to my normal routine now. I also will be blogging more because my last day of work is Tuesday. That's crazy. Then it's all nesting and baby prep and finally having the time to make my etsy a success. Join me as I try to make a profit and make Sara December Rose my full-time job.

Big things are about to happen.

Two new handmade jewelry editions to the shop today! First this lovely embroidered necklace, with a large floral motif. Its a rust colored piece of felt with yellow flowers and green stems.

And then some simple pink eyelet earrings. Also hand-sewn onto green felt with brass studs.

If you like them pick up a pair. And if you like them, but wish the necklace had blue or the earrings were purple, e-mail me and I can make them for you.

Saturday's finds

A collection of things from around the internet that I like. Mostly Valenties day crafts (you can celebrate the whole month right?).

I really want to make a "pregnancy" version of this dress with some ruching at the belly, I think it would be oh so cute.... future DIY?

traveling

So last week I went to the Big Central Regional Barista Competition in Kansas City, MO. I was a volunteer and took two of our baristas from Greyhouse. It was a blast. I just love being around people who are so passionate about coffee. We stayed with our friend Sam and ate so much good food it was crazy. Here is a panorama from the WWI memorial that overlooks the city. (it's a little blurry because it was so windy we could barely stand still)

I'm in full planning mode over here. I have some new embroidered jewelry pieces in the works, as well as lots of baby DIYs because lets face it you knew that would happen the second I was having a baby. (Which I'm 16 weeks today only 4 more till we know if it's a boy or a girl!)

We are also planning on going to New Orleans in March with two of our friends who live in Florida. I couldn't be more excited to explore a new city.

I'm also really excited for Valentines day. I don't necessarily get all sappy that day, but I do love the candy and making valentines for my friends. ETSY posted these suckers and I think I might have to make some (but with no food coloring, and natural flavors, and maybe honey instead of corn syrup... haha).

Have a great day I will be back tomorrow with Friday Feature!
